Käiguvahetusmehhanismi

A käiguvahetusmehhanism, or gearshift mechanism, is a critical component in vehicles that allows the driver to select different gears. This selection process enables the engine's power to be transmitted to the wheels at varying speeds and torque levels, optimizing performance, fuel efficiency, and driving ease. The mechanism typically translates the driver's input, whether through a manual gear lever or an automatic selector, into physical movements that disengage one gear set and engage another within the transmission.

In manual transmissions, the käiguvahetusmehhanism often involves a gear stick connected via linkages or cables to the gearbox. Moving the stick actuates shift forks inside the transmission, which slide synchronizers to match the speeds of the gears being meshed. This requires the driver to operate a clutch pedal simultaneously to disconnect the engine from the transmission during the gear change.

Automatic transmissions utilize a more complex käiguvahetusmehhanism that operates without direct driver intervention for gear selection. This system typically employs a hydraulic system controlled by a valve body, often in conjunction with an electronic control unit (ECU). Some modern vehicles also feature semi-automatic or paddle-shift systems, offering the driver manual control over gear changes within an automatic transmission framework, often integrated into the steering wheel or gear selector.
