Itemgewichts refers to the weight attribute of a single item within a catalog, inventory system, or logistics workflow. In Dutch and German contexts, the term describes how heavy the item is and is used across product data, warehousing, and shipping processes.

Weight measurements commonly distinguish net weight (the item alone) from gross weight (the item plus packaging or protective materials). Weights are typically expressed in metric units such as kilograms and grams, but imperial units may be used in some markets. Where packaging varies, both net and gross figures are kept.

In logistics, itemgewichts influences shipping costs, carrier requirements, and storage space. It affects dimensional weight calculations, palletization, and handling. Accurate item weights help prevent overcharges or under-shipments and support compliance with labeling and safety rules in some industries.

Data models often store itemgewichts as a numeric value with an associated unit. In modern product data standards, weight is represented within a Product structure and may be described by properties such as weight and weightValue, unitCode, or weightSpecification. Keeping consistent units and clear distinctions between net and gross weights improves interoperability across systems.

Practically, organizations should measure consistently using calibrated scales, record both net and gross weights when relevant, and update figures whenever packaging changes. For items with moisture-sensitive or variable content, document typical ranges and measurement conditions.
