Weight specification is a formal declaration of the mass or load-carrying capacity assigned to an object, component, or system. In engineering and manufacturing, a weight specification may denote either the nominal mass of an item or its allowed weight range (tolerances) that must be met for proper function, safety, and compatibility. The term can also refer to a load specification for accessories, fixtures, or structures where maximum supported weight is defined.
