Instrumentwithin
Instrumentwithin is a term used in music technology and embodied cognition to describe two related ideas about musical instruments: a nested-instrument design approach and the perceptual integration of an instrument into the performer's body schema. As an architectural concept, instrumentwithin treats a single physical or software instrument as housing multiple sub-instruments or functional layers that can be engaged independently or in combination through hierarchical controls, presets, or nested interfaces.
As a phenomenological notion, instrumentwithin refers to the experience in which an instrument ceases to be
Applications include modular synthesizers with embedded voices, software synthesis engines that expose several instrument models inside
