Időzítés, in Hungarian often written as időzítés, is the process of arranging events to occur at specific times or intervals. It is essential in systems that require coordination between components, signals, or processes to ensure correct operation, performance, or safety. The concept encompasses scheduling as well as synchronization, and it is applied across engineering, computing, and everyday technologies.

In electronics and computer engineering, időzítés refers to aligning events with a clock or timing reference. The clock edge marks when a state changes; timers and counters generate delays; interrupts and scheduled tasks ensure actions occur at expected moments. Key concepts include latency (delay between cause and effect), jitter (timing variation), and skew (differences between timing paths). Hardware timers, clock distribution networks, and synchronizing protocols are common tools for implementing precise timing.

In mechanical contexts, such as internal combustion engines, időzítés describes the timing of ignition and valve events relative to piston position.
