Höyrykuivaus

Höyrykuivaus is a Finnish term referring to steam drying. It is a method used to remove moisture from materials, particularly wood, using steam. In this process, the material is exposed to steam, which heats it and causes the water within to evaporate. The steam also helps to maintain a high humidity environment, which can prevent rapid surface drying and the associated cracking or warping that can occur with other drying methods.

The steam drying process typically involves placing the material in a sealed chamber. Steam is then introduced, raising the temperature and pressure within the chamber. As the material heats up, the water it contains turns into vapor and is either vented out or condensed and removed. The rate of drying is controlled by factors such as steam temperature, pressure, and airflow.
