Hybomitra is a genus of large biting flies in the family Tabanidae, commonly known as horse flies. The genus comprises numerous species distributed primarily in the Holarctic region, with many described in North America and Europe and some extending into temperate areas of Asia. Members are robust, generally medium to very large in size, often ranging from about 10 to 30 millimeters in body length. Hybomitra is placed in the subfamily Tabaninae, within the tribe Tabanini.
