GleichizerA

GleichizerA is a digital audio processing framework and product line that centers on adaptive equalization for professional audio production. The name combines German roots with a version-signifying suffix, indicating a configurable equalizer architecture designed for precise tonal shaping across a broad frequency range.

The project originated with Klangwerk Technologies, a software company focusing on DSP tools for music and broadcasting. After early research and prototypes in the late 2010s, GleichizerA was released as a multi-format plugin and as a software library for developers. Subsequent major updates expanded its bandwidth, processing modes, and scripting interfaces.

Technically, GleichizerA employs a hybrid processing chain that blends parametric, graphic, and dynamic equalization. It supports multiple bands (configurable up to around two dozen), with peak, shelf, and notch shapes. The core engine uses a combination of IIR and optional linear-phase FIR filters, providing transparent phase response. It offers real-time operation with low latency and supports side-chain dynamic EQ, oversampling, and mid/side processing.

Key features include a graphical user interface for interactive curve editing, pre/post compensation and auto-gain, per-band Q control, presets, and automation. It is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats and provides an API for control from external software and scripting environments.

In professional audio, GleichizerA has been adopted for mixing and mastering workflows, performance-critical broadcasts, and loudness management. Critics note higher CPU usage at maximum band counts and caution against excessive processing, but the tool is generally regarded as versatile and capable when used judiciously.
