Ghifar is a coastal city-state in the fictional continent of Eldoria. Located along a sheltered bay, it controls a natural harbor that links inland caravan routes with seafaring trade. The name Ghifar is derived from the Ghifari language, often associated with harbor features and sailors' lore, though its etymology remains debated.

Ghifar sits on limestone cliffs with terraced hinterlands. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers that sustain olive groves and vineyards in the surrounding hills.

Founded by merchant clans in antiquity, Ghifar emerged as a trading hub between inland kingdoms and eastern fleets. It gained de facto independence through a series of treaties and later formed a loose confederation of port-city states. The city has long balanced commerce with maritime defense.
