Gestaltungsnormen are normative rules and guidelines that govern the design of information, visuals, products, and environments to achieve clarity, usability, and consistency. They can apply to graphic design, typography, color schemes, layout with grids, iconography, signage, user interfaces, packaging, and architectural or urban design. Many Gestaltungsnormen originate from standardization bodies such as DIN, ISO, or CEN, but they can also be internal corporate guidelines or industry-specific rules.
