Festivaloperatører, or festival operators, are organizations that manage the operational delivery of a festival. They are commonly contracted by festival organizers, host venues, or municipalities to ensure the event runs smoothly. Their remit covers the on-site production, logistics and guest experience, translating a concept into a safe, functional, and engaging environment.

Typical responsibilities include site planning and layout, stages and infrastructure (power, water, sanitation), lighting and sound production, video and communications, artist and crew liaison, scheduling, and coordination of vendors, food and beverage, sponsorship activation, ticketing support, and transport and crowd management. They also oversee security, medical services, accessibility, and environmental considerations, such as waste management and cleanup.

Festivaloperatører work under contracts with organizers or sponsors and must comply with licensing, safety regulations, insurance, and emergency planning. They coordinate with authorities, venue owners, security services, and local emergency responders. The operational cycle often includes risk assessment, procurement, on-site management, incident response, and post-event evaluation and reporting.

Industry trends include increased focus on safety, sustainability, and inclusivity; the use of digital ticketing and real-time data; and the integration of technology for crowd management and energy efficiency. The role requires cross-disciplinary expertise and strong project management to balance creative goals with regulatory and logistical constraints.
