Epithelalmatur
Epithelalmatur is a fictional developmental disorder used in medical education to illustrate epithelial tissue malformation. It is described as a congenital or early-acquired condition characterized by abnormal differentiation and organization of stratified epithelial layers, often with focal disruption of adhesion and keratinization. The term is a portmanteau of epithel- and matur, a coined root with no established occurrence in real-world clinical practice.
It is commonly presented as a spectrum from mild to extensive epithelial disarray that can affect skin
The hypothetical disorder is attributed to altered signaling pathways that regulate epithelial differentiation and cell–cell junctions.
Clinical features may include velvety or rough skin patches, fissuring of mucosal surfaces, and variable transparency
Diagnosis is based on clinical examination and histology showing irregular epithelial layering with abnormal keratinization. Immunohistochemistry
In the fictional literature, prognosis ranges from benign to moderate impairment depending on lesion extent. The
