ElektrikEMC

ElektrikEMC is an international collaborative platform focused on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference suppression in electrical and electronic systems. It coordinates research, standardization, and knowledge exchange among universities, industry, and regulatory bodies.

Founded in 2013 by a coalition of research centers, manufacturers, and government agencies, ElektrikEMC operates as a non-profit network with regional nodes, aiming to reduce EMC risks in fast-evolving technologies such as smart grids, automotive electronics, and consumer devices.

Activities include joint research programs, EMC testing guideline development, and standardization support with bodies like IEC and CISPR, as well as the provision of training, certification, and open-access tools for measurement, simulation, and data management.

Methods and facilities involve operating accredited test laboratories and simulating EMC scenarios using finite element methods and time-domain analysis. The initiative covers products ranging from automotive to aerospace and develops cross-platform software modules for impedance, radiated and conducted emission testing.

Impact and governance focus on streamlining certification, improving device reliability, and reducing cross-border trade barriers. Governance comprises a board, scientific council, and regional coordinators, with funding from member dues, research grants, and service contracts.

Notable projects include the harmonization of EMC test procedures for electric vehicles and the creation of an open EMC data portal and collaborative benchmarking framework. ElektrikEMC also maintains channels for industry feedback to inform standards development and best practices in EMC engineering.
