Etymology and usage of the term vary by work, and there is no single canonical origin. The name commonly suggests a cross between a road‑related or streetwise function (the “drog-” element) and a catlike mobility implied by the suffix “-kat.” This combination reinforces ideas of stealth, nimbleness, and covert presence.

Design and capabilities are widely portrayed in a range of media. Drogokats are typically shown as roughly cat-sized, with a four‑leg chassis made from lightweight materials and modular payload bays for sensors or small packages.
