Dragonnia

Dragonnia is a small highland kingdom located on the northern edge of the continent of Ternea. The realm covers roughly 12,000 square kilometres and is characterised by rugged mountains, dense coniferous forests, and a temperate climate that supports a diverse range of wildlife. The capital city, Drakheim, sits at the base of Mount Thirion and serves as the political and cultural centre of the nation.

The first recorded mention of Dragonnia dates to the 8th century when the Drakarian people established their own dynastic line. Throughout the Middle Ages the kingdom maintained a neutral stance between its eastern neighbours, the Empire of Lysandria, and its western allies in the League of Altair. In the 15th century Dragonnia entered a golden age under King Arwyn IV, who expanded trade routes to the Southern Sea and encouraged the settlement of skilled artisans in the capital.

Economically, Dragonnia relies on forestry, mining and artisanal metallurgy, particularly the production of high-quality steel for weapons and tools. The annual Harvest Festival, held each spring in Drakheim, showcases folk music, dance and traditional cuisine such as smoked trout and hearty barley bread. Moreover, the kingdom is known for its dragonwatch guild, a voluntary organisation that patrols the border forests, ensuring the safety of local communities from herds of feral wyverns.

In addition to its cultural heritage, Dragonnia has modernised its infrastructure, with the Trans-Drak Highway linking the capital to neighbouring states and a railway line that services the mining towns in the interior. Tourism has grown in recent years, guided by the Royal Tourism Board, which promotes the kingdom’s natural beauty, historical sites and the opportunity for adventure sports such as alpine climbing and back‑country skiing.
