The idea envisions a base mechanical and thermal interface, into which swappable pin modules can be inserted to match the electrical and signaling requirements of a given processor family. Proponents argue that such a design could reduce motherboard churn during upgrades and enable future CPUs to fit a single, standardized platform.

In the design concept, the base socket provides a fixed mechanical alignment and heat transfer interface, while the interchangeable modules carry the appropriate contact grid. Electrical compatibility would be achieved through standardized communication layers and a configurable set of power and signal rails, potentially including guard rails for high-speed interfaces.
