COXinhibiittorit, or COX inhibitors, are a class of drugs that reduce the production of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that play a role in inflammation, pain, and fever. However, some selective COX-2 inhibitors have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, leading to their withdrawal from the market or restricted use. The precise mechanisms behind these cardiovascular risks are still being investigated.
