Bækkenbundssymptomer refer to a range of issues related to the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles form a hammock-like structure at the base of the pelvis, supporting the bladder, bowel, uterus, and vagina. When these muscles are weakened, overactive, or not functioning correctly, various symptoms can arise.

Common bækkenbundssymptomer include urinary incontinence, which can manifest as stress incontinence (leakage during coughing or sneezing) or urge incontinence (sudden, strong urges to urinate). Bowel incontinence, difficulty controlling gas or stool, is another frequent complaint. Pelvic organ prolapse, where one or more pelvic organs descend into or out of the vagina, can also be a symptom, often accompanied by a feeling of pressure or a bulge in the pelvic area.

While often associated with women, men can also experience bækkenbundssymptomer, particularly after prostate surgery. Treatment options are diverse and may include pelvic floor muscle training (Kegel exercises), lifestyle modifications, medication, or surgery.
