Bilbølgebokser refers to a phenomenon observed in some large, boxy vehicles, particularly SUVs and minivans, where the vehicle's body panels can resonate and produce a distinct "booming" or "wobbling" sound. This effect is often described as a low-frequency hum or vibration that can be felt and heard by occupants, especially at certain speeds or when driving over uneven surfaces. The term itself is a portmanteau of "bil" (car), "bølge" (wave), and "bokser" (boxer, referring to the boxy shape).

The precise cause of bilbølgebokser is complex and can involve a combination of factors. Aerodynamic forces interacting with the vehicle's large, flat surfaces can create pressure fluctuations. The structural rigidity of the vehicle's body, suspension tuning, and the resonant frequencies of specific panel materials can also contribute.
