Bakskärmar

Bakskärmar, often translated as rear fenders or mudguards, are components of a vehicle designed to protect the chassis, occupants, and other road users from debris, water, and mud thrown up by the rotating rear wheels. They are typically located above and behind the rear tires.

The primary function of bakskärmar is to prevent spray from being cast upwards and backwards, thereby improving visibility for following vehicles and reducing the accumulation of dirt and grime on the vehicle's bodywork.
