In German-speaking regions, the term is used to describe the set of as-built drawings and related documentation that reflect what is actually constructed, rather than what was designed. They typically include updated drawings, BIM models or 3D models, and accompanying reports that capture exact locations, dimensions, materials, and installation details of structures, systems and components. The documents also record deviations from the original design, including change orders, field notes, and reasons for modifications.

Purpose: They support facility management and future renovations by providing accurate information for operation, maintenance, and asset management. They help ensure compliance with codes, facilitate warranties, and assist commissioning and inspections. They are usually produced by contractors or design teams at handover and are reviewed by the owner or facility manager.

Content and formats: AsBuiltDokumente often include redlined or updated drawings, BIM models, 2D CAD files, PDFs, and, in modern projects, point clouds from laser scanning. The information may be stored in digital handover packages and integrated into asset management systems. Standards: They may follow country-specific standards (for example DIN in Germany) or international BIM information management standards such as ISO 19650. Lifecycle: The records are intended to be maintained over the asset's life, with periodic updates after significant renovations or maintenance work.
