Alrendszert

Alrendszert is the Hungarian term for a subsystem, a distinct component of a larger, more complex system that has a specific function and interacts with other parts through defined interfaces. The word is formed from al- meaning “sub” and rendszer meaning “system,” and it is used across engineering, computing, biology, and organizational contexts to describe modular parts of a whole.

A subsystem typically has a defined scope, responsibilities, and interfaces; it encapsulates data and behavior and may be decomposed into smaller units. Effective subsystem design emphasizes low coupling and high cohesion, stable interfaces, and clear contracts. Subsystems can be developed, tested, and maintained somewhat independently from the rest of the system, while still contributing to overall system performance and goals.

Applications span multiple fields. In computing and IT, examples include the memory management subsystem, the input/output subsystem, or the graphics subsystem within operating systems and game engines. In mechanical and electrical engineering, subsystems such as propulsion, power, or braking systems are typical within complex machines like vehicles and spacecraft. In biology, organ systems (for example circulatory or nervous systems) function as subsystems of the organism. In organizational design, departments or functional units can be viewed as subsystems that coordinate to achieve corporate objectives.

In system engineering and software architecture, decomposing a system into subsystems helps manage complexity. This approach relies on well-defined interfaces and contracts, enabling modular development, easier maintenance, and scalable integration.
