AllzweckTouringBikes, often shortened to ATBs, are a type of bicycle designed for versatility and comfort across a variety of terrains and purposes. They are characterized by their robust construction, comfortable riding position, and adaptability for carrying loads.

ATBs typically feature a sturdy frame, often made of steel or aluminum, capable of withstanding rougher surfaces. They usually have a more upright riding posture compared to road bikes, which contributes to rider comfort on longer journeys and provides better visibility. Suspension, either front or full, is sometimes incorporated to absorb shocks on uneven ground, further enhancing comfort.

Wheels on ATBs are generally of medium diameter, often 26 or 700c, equipped with tires that offer a balance between rolling resistance on pavement and grip on unpaved surfaces. Wider tires are common, providing increased stability and comfort.

Braking systems are typically reliable, with disc brakes (hydraulic or mechanical) becoming increasingly prevalent due to their superior performance in various weather conditions. Gearing on ATBs is usually wide-ranging, allowing riders to tackle both steep climbs and flat stretches with ease.

The design of an ATB prioritizes practicality. They often come equipped with or have provisions for mounting racks for carrying luggage, fenders to protect from mud and water spray, and mounts for lights and water bottles. This makes them suitable for commuting, touring, bikepacking, or simply recreational riding on mixed surfaces. Their all-around capability earns them the "Allzweck" (all-purpose) designation.
