Zorrën is the Albanian term for the fox. The fox refers to a small to medium-sized canid in the family Canidae, most commonly the red fox (Vulpes vulpes). Foxes are among the most widespread terrestrial mammals, occupying forests, grasslands, deserts, and increasingly urban areas across Europe, Asia, and North America. They typically have reddish to brownish-gray fur, a white underbelly, black legs, and a distinctive bushy tail with a pale tip.

In the wild, foxes are generally solitary and opportunistic feeders. They are primarily crepuscular or nocturnal and use dens, burrows, or rocky crevices for shelter. Territorial marking includes urine and scat. Diet is omnivorous, including small mammals, birds, eggs, insects, fruit, and, in human areas, garbage or pet food.

Reproduction occurs once a year in most regions, with mating in late winter and a gestation of about 52 days. Litters commonly contain four to six pups, which stay with the mother for several weeks. In the wild, foxes may live 2–5 years, sometimes longer in captivity or protected populations.

Conservation status is generally Least Concern on a global scale, but regional populations may face threats from habitat loss, hunting, road mortality, or conflict with humans. Culturally, the fox is a frequent figure in folklore and literature, often depicted as clever and adaptable. In Albanian folklore, zorrën is a familiar symbol.
