A videowall is a large display formed by assembling multiple smaller display panels to create a single, immersive screen. It can be built from tiled LCD panels or from LED modules, or occasionally from a mix of technologies. The goal is to deliver a high-resolution image with wide viewing angles and strong brightness for large-scale viewing environments.

Common configurations arrange panels in a grid or curved array to fit a space, with bezel compensation or warping to minimize seams and align color and geometry. A video wall processor or controller distributes input sources across the tiles, performs scaling and color correction, and manages bezel compensation, aspect ratio, and content routing. Content management systems may schedule and distribute multiple sources to different wall regions or split screens.

Key factors in selecting and deploying a videowall include brightness, contrast, color uniformity, viewing angle, refresh rate, and power consumption. Bezel width, mechanical stability, and ease of service influence long-term maintenance. LED video walls typically offer higher brightness, better outdoor visibility, and modularity for very large installations, while LCD video walls can provide narrower bezels and lower initial cost for mid-sized setups. Hybrid or high-resolution tiles may be used for specialized applications.

Applications span control rooms, broadcast studios, command centers, corporate lobbies, event venues, retail signage, and museums. Installation considerations include room lighting, cabinet ventilation, cable management (HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI, or fibre), and alignment calibration. As technology advances, videowalls increasingly support higher resolutions, HDR, wider color gamuts, and IP-based tile communication.
