Verisuonikasvain, also known as a vascular tumor, is a general term for a growth that involves blood vessels. Hemangiomas are a type of benign vascular tumor. They are characterized by an abnormal proliferation of blood vessels. Unlike hemangiomas, vascular malformations do not typically involute and are present from birth, though they may become more apparent or symptomatic with age.

Malignant vascular tumors are rare and are known as angiosarcomas. These are aggressive cancers that arise from the cells lining blood or lymphatic vessels. Angiosarcomas can occur in various parts of the body, including the skin, soft tissues, and internal organs. Their diagnosis and treatment are complex and usually involve surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. The prognosis for angiosarcoma varies widely depending on the stage and location of the tumor.
