Vaunuun is a city-state on the Vaunuun Archipelago, a fictional collection off the eastern coast of the continent of Elaria. It operates as an autonomous political entity and historic maritime hub, with diverse communities tracing roots to seafaring clans, traders, and migrants.

Geography and climate: The archipelago comprises 14 inhabited islands linked by canals, causeways, and ferries. The coast features deltas, mangroves, and low hills, with a temperate maritime climate of mild winters and warm summers.

History: Vaunuun emerged in the early medieval period as a trading outpost and grew into a cosmopolitan port during the late medieval era. It flourished in the Golden Age (16th–17th centuries) before coming under external influence. In the 20th century it adopted a constitutional parliamentary system and expanded municipal governance.

Government: It operates as a parliamentary republic with an elected president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The unicameral Assembly approves laws, while local councils administer island communities. The state pursues open trade and coastal conservation.
