Common formats include sizes around A6, A5, or A4, with paper weights from about 90 to 160 g/m². Finishes can be matte or glossy. A standard layout often features a bold headline, one or more images, concise body text, contact details, a call to action, and sometimes a QR code or coupon. Ulotki are produced by digital printing for small runs or offset printing for larger quantities.

Content is meant to convey key information quickly and clearly, such as a product offer, service description, event date, venue, or registration details. They are used by businesses, retailers, restaurants, NGOs, and political campaigns. Distribution methods include direct handing to pedestrians, placing them in public racks or shops, inserting into mailboxes, or including them with other mailings.

Legislation and local rules may affect ulotki: some municipalities regulate or ban unsolicited advertising in public spaces, and littering penalties may apply. Good practice emphasizes legibility, respectful distribution, and compliance with privacy rules when collecting personal data.
