Composition and design: A typical træbælte consists of one or more rows of trees, often including a mix of evergreen and deciduous species. Orientation relative to prevailing winds, root systems, and potential shading of adjacent crops are key considerations.

Functions and benefits: Windbreak effects reduce wind speed at the field level, which can lower evaporation, protect crops from wind damage, and reduce snow drift.
