Torporids are a family of extinct mammals that lived during the Oligocene epoch. These animals are known from fossil evidence found in North America and Eurasia. Torporids were small to medium-sized herbivores, with dental characteristics suggesting a diet of tough plant material. Their anatomy indicates they were likely adapted for terrestrial life, possibly inhabiting open woodlands or grasslands.
