In Italian practice, these roles may be described with several terms depending on emphasis, but they share the core task of assembling garments and accessories to achieve a desired appearance or narrative.

Fashion designers design collections, sketch concepts, select materials, oversee fittings, and coordinate production with pattern makers and manufacturers.
