Stastälopp is a traditional East Frisian sport, specifically originating from the regions of East Frisia and Borkum. The sport involves a unique combination of horse riding, walking, and driving, where participants ride their horses in a circuit and then dismount to walk alongside their horses, before remounting to continue the ride.

The activity of stastälopp requires great skill, agility, and endurance, both from the participants and the horses involved. Each participant must have a thorough mastery of horse riding, as well as the ability to rapidly remount and dismount their mounts.
