Servoaxle refers to an integrated electromechanical drive unit that combines an electric motor, reduction gearing, and a position sensor into a single, compact assembly. This design aims to simplify the control of rotary or linear motion in various applications. The core principle is to replace traditional mechanical linkages and separate motor components with a single, intelligent unit.

The electric motor within a servoaxle provides the power for movement. This motor is typically a DC brushless motor for efficiency and longevity. The reduction gearing, often a planetary or harmonic drive system, multiplies the motor's torque and reduces its speed to achieve the desired output motion. Crucially, a high-resolution position sensor, such as an encoder, is integrated directly onto the output shaft. This sensor provides real-time feedback on the exact angular or linear position of the servoaxle.

This integrated feedback loop allows for precise and accurate control of the output. A servo controller receives signals from the position sensor and commands the motor to move to a specific target position, holding it there with high fidelity. Servoaxles are commonly used in robotics, automation, industrial machinery, and even some automotive applications where precise and repeatable motion is required.
