Semiprofessionele is a linguistic term used in several European languages to describe a status or level of activity that lies between amateur and professional. The word is formed from semi- (half) and professional, and is inflected according to the grammar of the language in which it is used. In Dutch, for instance, semiprofessionele is the plural or feminine form of semi-professioneel, used before nouns such as sporters or artiesten to indicate that they are not full-time professionals but earn some income from their activity. In Romanian and other Romance languages, parallel forms such as semiprofesional/semiprofesionale exist, with endings adjusted for gender and number.

Semiprofessionele is most commonly applied in contexts such as sports, music, arts, and e-sports, where participants may compete or perform at a high level and receive compensation, sponsorship, or stipends while maintaining another primary occupation or education. The status is not universally codified; definitions depend on country, league rules, and individual agreements.
