Selfcorrective (also written as self-corrective) is an adjective describing a system, process, or behavior that can identify errors or deviations and correct them, often through internal feedback mechanisms. The core idea is autonomous adjustment aimed at reducing error and restoring a desired state or performance level.

In engineering and computing, selfcorrective systems use feedback loops to monitor outputs, compare them with targets, and apply corrections. Examples include control systems, fault-tolerant architectures, and self-healing software that can repair itself after faults. In data storage and communication, error detection and correction codes such as ECC memory and Reed-Solomon codes enable recovery from corrupted data without external intervention. Some systems perform continuous scrubbing or rolling updates to maintain integrity.

In education and psychology, selfcorrective processes describe learners and agents that monitor their own performance, identify mistakes, reflect, and revise strategies or work. Self-regulated learning, metacognition, and reflective practice are related concepts. In biological and ecological contexts, homeostatic and regulatory mechanisms can act in selfcorrective ways to maintain stability, adapt to disturbances, or recover from damage.
