Sekamuodot, in science often translated as mixtures, are substances composed of two or more components that retain their own identities and properties. The overall composition can vary, and the components are physically combined rather than chemically bonded. Because of this, sekamuodot can usually be separated into their constituent substances by physical means rather than by chemical reactions.

Sekamuodot are commonly classified as homogeneous or heterogeneous. Homogeneous mixtures have a uniform composition and appearance throughout, such as a salt solution in water or a metal alloy like brass. In these mixtures the components are not easily distinguished with the naked eye. Heterogeneous mixtures show two or more distinct parts or phases, such as sand in water, oil and water, or a suspension like muddy water. Some mixtures also contain colloids, tiny particles dispersed within a medium that create cloudy or milky appearances, as in milk or fog; colloids behave differently from true solutions or coarse suspensions.

The properties of sekamuodot depend on the nature and relative amounts of their components. They do not have fixed compositions the way pure substances do, and their components can often be separated by physical methods. Common separation techniques include filtration (removing solids from liquids), decanting, centrifugation (driving denser components to the bottom), distillation (separating liquids by boiling points), evaporation, crystallization, and chromatography.

Sekamuodot play a central role in chemistry, environmental science, food and beverage production, metallurgy, and everyday life. They contrast with pure substances, which consist of a single element or compound with a fixed composition and cannot be separated into other substances by simple physical means.
