Röntgenkészülékek, commonly known as X-ray machines, are medical devices used to produce radiographic images of the inside of the body. These machines utilize X-rays, a form of electromagnetic radiation, to penetrate tissues and create images on a detector. The intensity of the X-rays absorbed by different tissues varies, with denser materials like bone absorbing more radiation than softer tissues, resulting in a contrast in the final image.

A typical röntgenkészülék consists of an X-ray tube, a high-voltage generator, and a control console. The X-ray tube contains a cathode that emits electrons when heated, and an anode that accelerates these electrons. When the electrons strike the anode, they generate X-rays. The control console allows the operator to adjust factors such as voltage, current, and exposure time, which determine the characteristics of the X-ray beam.

Radiography is a widely used diagnostic imaging technique for a variety of medical conditions. It is particularly effective for visualizing bones, detecting fractures, and identifying foreign objects. Chest X-rays are common for diagnosing lung diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis. Other applications include mammography for breast cancer screening and dental radiography for examining teeth and jawbones. While generally safe when used appropriately, repeated exposure to X-rays can increase the risk of radiation-induced damage, so protective measures are employed during examinations.
