Pääsytestaukset, known in English as penetration testing or pentesting, are authorized simulated cyberattacks on computer systems, networks, and web applications. The primary goal is to identify vulnerabilities that malicious actors could exploit. These tests are conducted to assess the security posture of an organization and provide actionable insights for improving defenses.

Penetration testing methodologies can vary, but they generally follow a structured approach. This often begins with reconnaissance, where testers gather information about the target system. This is followed by scanning to identify open ports and services. Exploitation is the next phase, where testers attempt to gain unauthorized access by leveraging discovered vulnerabilities.
