puristusmittarit
Puristusmittarit are instruments used to measure the pressure or compressive force exerted within a system, such as engines, hydraulic circuits, or structural components. The term is Finnish for “compression meters” or “compression gauges.” These devices convert a mechanical resistance into a readable quantity, often expressed in kilopascals (kPa) or bar. Typical puristusmittarit consist of a sensing element—such as a bourdon tube, diaphragm, or strain gauge—connected to a mechanical output or a digital display. Some models include integrated pressure sensors that output electrical signals for remote monitoring or data logging.
In automotive applications, puristusmittarit are most commonly employed to measure cylinder compression in internal combustion engines.
Industrial puristusmittarit are available in a range of configurations, from simple analog gauges with dial indicators
