Proofings is the plural form of proofing, a term used across several fields to describe processes that test, validate, or develop something before it reaches its final form. Although the specifics vary by context, common themes include verification, timing, and quality control.

In baking, proofing refers to the final rise of dough before it is baked. Yeast ferments sugars in the dough, producing carbon dioxide that leavens and strengthens gluten.
