Proliferatiivinen is a Finnish adjective used in biology and medicine to describe processes, tissues, or conditions characterized by proliferation, i.e., an increase in the number of cells or growth of tissue. The term derives from the Latin proliferare and is widely used to denote growth activity or rapid cell division in various contexts.

In histology and reproductive biology, proliferatiivinen is commonly applied to describe the proliferative phase of the endometrium. This phase follows menstruation and is driven primarily by estrogen, leading to regeneration of the epithelial lining and growth of the glands. Morphologically, a proliferative endometrium features mitotically active cells and glands that are relatively straight and narrow. The proliferative phase ends with ovulation, after which the endometrium typically enters the secretory phase under progesterone influence.

Beyond reproductive tissue, proliferatiivinen is used more generally to refer to tissues or lesions with high proliferative activity, such as during wound healing or in certain benign or neoplastic processes where cell division is prominent. The term does not by itself indicate a diagnosis; it simply characterizes the degree of cellular proliferation in a given context.
