Profesionalni is an adjective used in Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian to denote something related to a profession or to a person who performs a job as a paid occupation. It can describe standards, behavior, equipment, or status associated with professional work, as opposed to amateur or informal equivalents.

The word derives from the noun profesija (profession) or from the stem profesional-, and it has been borrowed from European sources such as French professionnel or Latin professio. In South Slavic languages it inflects for gender and number: masculine nominative is profesionalni, feminine is profesionalna, and neuter is profesionalno. When used as an attribute, it agrees with the noun it modifies, e.g., profesionalni sportaš, profesionalna oprema.

Usage and nuance: profesionalni is commonly contrasted with amatérski or amaterski to indicate paid, formalized work or a high standard of practice.
