palmfrond
A palmfrond is the leaf or leaf blade of a palm tree, belonging to the family Arecaceae. In most palms the leaf consists of a petiole, which attaches the leaf to the crown, and a blade that bears the leaflets. Fronds come in two main architectural forms: pinnate (feather-like) fronds with a central rachis bearing numerous leaflets on either side, and palmate (fan-shaped) fronds with leaflets radiating from a central point. Some species exhibit costapalmate leaves, where a stiff extension of the rachis supports the fan-like blade.
Structure and growth: Palms are monocots; fronds are often evergreen and long-lived. New leaves emerge from
Ecology and use: Palmfronds provide shade, contribute to photosynthesis, and can offer microhabitats for various organisms
Sustainability: Harvest practices aim to avoid damaging the plant; removing too many young fronds can stress
