Palletstelling is a storage system for palletized goods, consisting of a framework of uprights and beams that forms shelves or racks. The system allows pallets to be stored in vertical tiers, providing organized storage, easier stock control, and efficient use of floor space in warehouses and distribution centers. Palletstelling can accommodate various pallet sizes and load capacities, and can be adapted to changing storage needs.

The most common form is selective palletstelling, where each pallet is directly accessible from the aisle. Other high-density variants aim to maximize storage capacity, such as drive-in or drive-through systemen, push-back systemen, and pallet flow systemen. These configurations trade direct accessibility for higher storage density or specific inventory management methods (for example FIFO via pallet flow). Deep, double-deep, or cantilever arrangements may be used for special goods, while decking or wire mesh panels provide flat resting surfaces and added protection.

Core components include upright frames, beams, and decking or rollers. Beams are adjustable in height, allowing flexible row depths and pallet heights. The system is typically anchored to the floor and designed to support specified load ratings, with safety features such as end-of-aisle protectors, barriers, and, where relevant, load indicators.

Standards and safety are central to palletstelling. Design, installation, and maintenance should comply with applicable national and international guidelines, and regular inspections are recommended to prevent damage, overloading, or misalignment. Proper training, aisle clearance, and adherence to weight limits ensure safe and reliable operation.

Applications include warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities that handle palletized goods. The choice of configuration depends on space, throughput requirements, and inventory management goals.
