Palettiert is the past participle of the German verb palettieren, meaning to place goods on a pallet for storage or transport. As an adjective, palettiert describes a load that has been palletized. The term is commonly used in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing to indicate that items have been arranged on a pallet to facilitate handling, storage, and movement.

Palettierung involves choosing a pallet size and arranging items so that the load remains stable during lifting and transport. The process usually includes securing the items with stretch wrap, shrink wrap, or strapping, and may employ corner guards or edge protectors to prevent damage. Pallets can be made of wood, plastic, or metal, and are selected based on weight, durability, hygiene requirements, and reuse considerations. In Europe, the EUR-pallet (800 × 1200 mm) is widely used, while in North America the standard pallet is typically 40 × 48 inches. Many pallets are designed for four-way forklift entry to maximize handling options.

The use of palettiert loads offers several benefits: improved safety and handling efficiency for forklifts and pallet jacks, easier stacking in warehouses, and more predictable performance during transportation. Palletized goods also support accurate inventory control and can integrate with automated systems, such as palletizers, conveyors, and warehouse management processes. Damaged or poorly secured pallets can compromise stability and may require re-paletting or re-packaging.
