Organeid is a term used in speculative biology to describe a hypothetical multicellular organism that develops distinct organ-like modules, or organoids, as its fundamental units. Each organoid performs specialized functions and remains integrated into a coherent body through intercellular signaling and shared resource networks. The concept highlights organismality as an emergent property of modular organization rather than the product of a single, uniform body plan.

An organeid’s body is composed of multiple organoid modules, which can include nutritive, nervous, reproductive, and locomotor units. Modules are tightly interconnected, yet can exhibit a degree of autonomy, allowing localized responses to environmental stimuli. Development proceeds through iterative addition and differentiation of modules, guided by signaling pathways that coordinate growth, tissue specification, and energy distribution.
