Näppäimistölukitus, commonly referred to as Keyboard Lock in English, is a feature found on many electronic devices, particularly computers and some mobile phones. Its primary function is to temporarily disable the input from the physical keyboard. This is useful in various situations, such as cleaning the keyboard, preventing accidental keystrokes when the device is unattended, or when a child might be interacting with the device.

There are several ways a keyboard lock can be implemented. On desktop and laptop computers, it is often achieved through specific key combinations, such as pressing the 'Windows key' and 'L' simultaneously on Windows systems, or 'Command' and 'Control' and 'Q' on some macOS configurations. These combinations typically lock the screen and require a password or PIN to regain access, serving a security purpose as well. On some devices, dedicated lock keys might exist. For older or specialized hardware, physical switches could also be used.

On mobile devices, the concept of a keyboard lock is intrinsically linked to the screen lock functionality. When a smartphone or tablet is locked, the on-screen keyboard is also inactive, preventing unwanted input until the device is unlocked via a passcode, pattern, fingerprint, or facial recognition. Some devices may also offer more granular control over keyboard locking, allowing users to disable specific keys or the entire keyboard temporarily without necessarily locking the entire device. This feature enhances user experience by providing control and preventing unintended actions.
