Microsprinkler is a compact sprinkler used in micro-irrigation systems to apply small, targeted amounts of water. It typically emits a low- to moderate-precipitation spray from a small nozzle, with flow and reach designed for localized irrigation of beds, shrubs, trees, or container plantings. Microsprinklers operate at relatively low pressures, often in the range of 15 to 30 psi (1.0 to 2.1 bar), and are commonly mounted on stakes or risers connected to a main irrigation line. Head types include fixed spray and rotating micro-sprinklers that cover circular or partial-circle patterns.

Coverage and performance depend on nozzle size, arc, and distance from the emitter. Typical throw distances are a few feet, with common precipitation rates between 0.5 and 2 inches per hour (12–50 mm/h). Because water is sprayed rather than dripped, wind can move spray and cause uneven coverage; proper siting and shielding may be required. Clean water and filters are important to prevent clogging, and regular maintenance includes flushing lines and cleaning screens.

Applications include landscape plantings, nurseries, greenhouse benches, and orchard undergrowth, where efficient water use is needed and soil moisture can be controlled near the root zone. Advantages over high-volume sprinklers or drip emitters include more uniform area wetting and compatibility with citrus, ornamentals, or vegetables in raised beds. Limitations include vulnerability to clogging, wind drift, and uneven terrain challenges, which can require careful design, filtration, regulator placement, and occasional replacement of heads.
