Calculation and variations: In its simplest form, memorypercent = (used_memory / total_physical_memory) × 100. However, the definition of "used" varies by tool and OS. Some tools count memory allocated for programs and the kernel, including caches and buffers; others exclude caches/buffers and report "active" or "real" used memory.
