Marbleclad refers to architectural surfaces that are finished with marble or marble-like materials and attached to a structural substrate to form cladding. The term covers natural marble veneers, engineered or composite panels that imitate marble, and porcelain or ceramic panels with marble patterns. Marbleclad can be applied to interior walls, columns, feature walls, fireplaces, and exterior facades, with installation approaches ranging from thin veneers bonded to backings to large-format panels or ventilated façade systems.

Materials and production vary. Natural marble veneers are typically 2 to 10 millimeters thick and glued or mechanically fixed to a substrate such as gypsum or cement board. Engineered options use marble patterns on cement, quartz, or ceramic cores, offering greater uniformity and simpler handling. Porcelain panels with marble aesthetics provide another alternative, often combining durability with reduced weight. The choice of backing, panel size, and fastening method influences durability, weather performance, and installation cost.

Installation and maintenance emphasize substrate preparation, proper fixing methods, and expansion joint guidance. Exterior applications may require ventilated façades and consideration of freeze–thaw cycles. Maintenance generally involves neutral cleaners and regular dusting; natural marble surfaces can be susceptible to etching from acidic substances and may require sealing or periodic polishing depending on the finish.

Performance and considerations include aesthetic value, durability, and fire performance, balanced against heavier weight, higher cost, and potential for scratching or staining. Environmental impacts depend on material type and sourcing; natural marble has notable embodied energy, while engineered options can offer consistency and sometimes lower environmental impact.
